Apple confirms iPhone 8 is making a crackling sound

While every other update usually ends up with people complaining about battery life, a new study has gathered data from a large subset of around 50,000 users which clearly indicates that the problem is widespread with the iOS 11 update.

Users of the affected iPhone 8 units took to the MacRumors forums, Apple’s support forum and Reddit to report that the phone’s earpiece makes a “crackling” or “static” sound that disrupts the audio.

That should be a huge relief for iPhone users since an issue of this nature typically means unfixable hardware failure.

Lots of other users have reported problems with apps becoming unresponsive and Apple’s mobile operating system being generally very glitchy. A fix for the issue was not available, but Microsoft is recommended users to install the Outlook app for iOS as a workaround.

Some took the news as a sign of weak demand for the phone, but Digitimes noted in its report that Apple used a similar strategy for the iPhone 7 past year.

The iPhone 7 could potentially be the hottest selling iPhone of 2017. The phone comes with a new Face ID for security and authentication.

According to Localytics, which has been analyzing iPhone adoption rates each year, the iPhone 8 is far behind the iPhone 7 after its first weekend, when last year’s Apple handset captured 1% share of the marketplace.

Apple’s SVP of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller claims that the iPhone X battery lasts two hours longer than the iPhone 7 series.

Apple has also recently announced the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3 and 4K Apple TV.

The new, premium Apple phone is due to go on sale at the beginning of November.

The details that were revealed in an electronic filing on the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Centre (TENAA) web site reveal that the iPhone X will come with a 2,715mAh battery and 3GB of RAM.
