Pakistan's ex-PM Nawaz Sharif says graft case based on lies

He did not enter a plea.

After his first court appearance on corruption charges, Mr Sharif said he would fight his case but considered the process biased.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was admitted to a hospital in London September 20 for a third surgery as part of her throat cancer treatment.

Ms. Kulsoom Nawaz recently won Lahore’s NA-120 seat vacated by her husband after he was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers case.

Sharif said he believed that God and the people of Pakistan are with him and expressed hope that justice would prevail. The military denies any such action.

Kirmani said that Sharif has presided over several informal meetings and consulted senior party leaders, as well as members of his legal team to devise strategies to deal with legal and political challenges facing the party, the Dawn has reported.

PTI, led by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan who doggedly pushed the supreme court into launching a corruption probe into Sharif, has called for an early election but it is unlikely the government will agree to that. Sharif told reporters outside his upscale London apartment in London before departing for Islamabad last Sunday (24).

Due to her diagnosis, she could not return to Pakistan and her campaign was run by Maryam instead.

In addition, the report stated that the references related to Azizia Steel Mills, Hill Metal Company, Flagship Investments and other companies are against the three-time former PM and his sons, while a fourth reference has been filed against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.
