President Donald Trump is unfit for office, isn’t level-headed, and should stop tweeting, a majority of voters said in a Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday.
A majority of Americans, including most independent voters, say President Trump is unfit for office, according to a new poll.
American men were equally split on the question – 49-49 – while women believed by a 63-35 margin that Trump is not fit to be president. 94 percent of Democratic voters said that the president was not fit to serve while 84 percent of GOP voters said he was up for the job. Trump’s disapproval rating is 57%, with only 36% of voters approving of the job he’s doing amid his administration’s response to the devastation in Puerto Rico and his party’s failure to pass legislation repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act.
Ninety-four percent of African-Americans surveyed disapproved of Trump’s handling of race relations as president, compared to 66 percent of Hispanics who said the same.
The polls results have “no upside” whatsoever, said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
The poll, conducted Sept 21-26 has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
Fifty-one per cent said they were embarrassed to have Trump in the White House while 27 per cent said they were proud.
Trump subsequently used his social media platform to call for boycotts against the National Football League if team owners did not fire protesting players.
RealClearPolitics, after aggregating the last 11 national surveys released between September 13 and September 26, found that Trump had an average approval rating of 40 percent and an average disapproval of 54 percent.
Quinnipiac University polled 1,412 voters nationwide between September 21-26.
