Yuzvendra Chahal has scalped Glenn Maxwell’s wicket for three times in a row in this five-match series.
Glenn Maxwell stumped out by MS Dhoni. For the third straight game, he failed to read Yuzvendra Chahal, and on Sunday, he ended up offering his wicket to the spinner, thanks to another MS Dhoni stumping.
Dhoni is playing an important role in preparing the Virat Kohli-led young Indian side for big challenges, and on Saturday he chose to be at the side of young spinners in the squad – Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel – besides Ravindra Jadeja.
In the second ODI at Kolkata, Chahal outfoxed Maxwell with his flight and nearly nutmegged the batsmen. The ball lobbed for a while but it was the master behind the wicket who completed the stumping in a sensational manner.
India, who are now in Indore for the third ODI against Steve Smith-led Australian side, were involved in a practice session on the eve of the match. The onus was then on the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis and others to take Australia to at least 330. Australia eventually lost the match by 21 runs (D/L Method).
Australia, batting first after winning the toss, finished with 293 runs on board in their 50 overs.
However, it was not to be, as Indian bowlers made a sensational comeback during the backend of the innings.
