Japan PM says time for N Korea dialogue is over

As tensions continue to ratchet up with North Korea, CNN has learned that the U.S. is considering shooting down a North Korean ballistic missile even if it does not directly threaten the USA or its allies.

The PM made the comments to a group of investors at the New York Stock Exchange, ahead of an address at the United Nations General Assembly.

Spain is expelling the ambassador of North Korea in response to Pyongyang’s nuclear tests and missile launches over Japan.

“Dialogue for the objective of having dialogue is meaningless”, Abe said at the New York Stock Exchange.

24-hours ago, USA ambassador to UN, Nikki Haley issued a stern warning to defiant North Korea stating that Pyongyang will be destroyed if it continues its “reckless behavior”.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that would enable the United States to sanction individual companies and institutions that finance trade with North Korea.

Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-In spoke by phone Saturday and vowed to exert “stronger pressure” on the North, with Moon’s office warning that further provocation would put it on a “path of collapse”.

The flight of four F-35B stealth fighters and two B-1B bombers was to “demonstrate the deterrence capability of the US-South Korea alliance against North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats”, the South Korean defence ministry said in a statement.

Kuwait also said it would stop issuing visas to North Korean passport holders.

Abe said Japan, a treaty ally of the United States, consistently supported the USA stance that “all options are on the table” in dealing with North Korea.

Asked at an off-camera briefing at the Pentagon if there are military options that would not put Seoul at “grave risk?”

North Korea’s Foreign Ministry responded to the news of UNSC tightening sanctions after Pyongyang’s latest nuclear test by condemning the new measures and pledging to double the efforts to protect the country’s sovereignty.

Members of the administration have repeatedly emphasized that a range of military options are on the table and Mattis said Monday that the United States possess military options that would not put Seoul at risk of a North Korean counterattack with the potential to kill tens of thousands of civilians. Along with Russian Federation, it is urging the U.S.to launch dialogue with Pyongyang.

“North Korea’s nuclear weapons either already are, or are on the verge of becoming, hydrogen bombs”, he argued.

“The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea”, Trump said.

Trump spoke Thursday at a meeting in NY with the president of Afghanistan. “North Korea has conducted evil acts – not only regarding nuclear and missile development, but also on human rights and humanitarian points of view”, she said.

The three leaders will also meet over lunch.
