Investigators in Jefferson County are working to piece together the details of a deputy involved shooting Thursday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office received a report of a reckless driver along C-470 speeding and passing cars on the shoulder of the road.
On twitter, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident stemmed from a traffic complaint that came in just before 4:00 p.m.
A deputy came upon the vehicle, which was unoccupied, at an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store, 8134 S. Kipling Pkwy.
Upon arrival, deputies and investigators found the body of Shawn Miller.
This was followed by the call about shots fired, and that’s when the deputy fired his weapon, according to a tweet from the JCSO.
The intersection near where the shooting occurred will be closed until about 10 p.m., Techmeyer said, and drivers are advised to avoid the area. The deputy was not injured, and there is no word yet about the driver of the auto.
