Timmons was dealing with a personal matter, causing him to leave the team and miss his would-be debut as a Dolphin, and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the veteran linebacker will meet with doctors Monday to determine the precise issue.
Timmons failing to play Sunday put an end to his streak of 101 consecutive starts.
TMZ reported on Monday that a Dolphins team representative filed a missing persons report with the police in Southern California in attempts to find Timmons.
The team was able to locate Timmons after filing a missing persons report.
He was eventually found at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday morning.
After the Dolphins’ 19-17 win over the Chargers – in a game where Timmons didn’t play – Miami coach Adam Gase didn’t really seem interested in talking about the situation with his new linebacker.
The Dolphins do not know exactly what the issue is and Timmons will visit with doctors today to see what is going on.
No one knows for sure why Timmons would all of sudden neglect his job duties because he missed his child and even his health had come into question as possible signs of CTE may be developing. In the days leading up to the game, the Dolphins didn’t get any indication that something might be amiss with Timmons.
Miami practiced in the Los Angeles area last week after being displaced by Hurricane Irma.
Part of the reason that this is an especially odd situation is because Timmons nearly never misses a game.
After the Steelers game against the Minnesota Vikings was over, a few defensive players were asked about their former teammate and specifically if they had heard about what happened earlier in the day with Timmons.
