Now, the first poster has been revealed via the movie’s Twitter account, showing star Alicia Vikander standing tall as Lara Croft and sporting her handy climbing axe, which will no doubt come in handy during her adventure alongside her bow and arrow. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. While action is certainly a factor, fans will be anxious to see a Lara Croft who climbs, goes spelunking, and risks death to explore the unknown and uncover ancient artifacts in the movie reboot.
Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.
The newTomb Raider film has received its first poster, but everyone is more concerned about Lara Croft’s neck than seeing the video game heroine’s return to the big screen. Just look at her.
Directed by the Norwegian Roar Uthaug (The Wave), the film, largely inspired by the reboot of 2013 on consoles, will show a new version of the origins of the adventurer.
Joining Vikander in the film are Walter Goggins, Daniel Wu, Dominic West and Hannah John-Kamen in key supporting roles.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwiyn-Mayer Pictures present, a Square Enix Limited production, a GK Films production, “Tomb Raider“. MGM and Warner Bros are hoping to change that next year when their reboot of Tomb Raider hits theaters.
