Colts name Jacoby Brissett Week 2 starter against Cardinals

N.C. State could be in elite company this weekend as it may have four former quarterbacks start in the NFL. “I’ve never been around one, during games, and that’s what surprised me about the other day, because he has been so resilient”. They are now dead even at 8-8.

Andrew Luck will again miss this week, and the Colts can only hope that their passing game is on firmer footing this time around.

In Week 2, Brissett will be the leader under center for the Colts as they take on Carson Palmer and the Arizona Cardinals. He did not throw for a touchdown or interception. Like I predicted Tuesday, the team re-signed Chris Johnson and don’t be surprised if he gets the most work at running back over the next two months. The issue, of course, is how much the Cards’ offense leaned on Johnson. Fantasy Tip: Palmer and Fitzgerald could have big days given weakness Colts showed in secondary, and absence of injured star RB David Johnson to provide balance. If the Colts lose on Sunday they will start 0-4 for a fourth straight year. Arizona produced one sack, one interception and forced one fumble they didn’t even recover.

Antoine Bethea played in Indianapolis for eight seasons, and was a rookie on the Colts’ Super Bowl Champion team in 2006.

It means the QB is going to be the struggling Scott Tolzien or newcomer Jacoby Brissett, who was just acquired before the first game. T.Y. Hilton led the Colts with 3 catches for 57 yards while Donte Moncrief’s lone reception went for 50. Tolzien threw two pick-sixes, and almost a third had it not been for Donte Moncrief committing a facemask that prevented Tolzien from tying the National Football League record for a single game. “He’s been here a week, so getting to know him is as important as him getting to know the playbook”.

Indianapolis did field a solid run defense against the Rams, but all that did was open up passing lanes all the way down the field. Arizona’s top cornerback Patrick Peterson could be following T.Y. Hilton on Sunday, which will only make things more hard for a Colts’ passing game needing to get back on track. One of Nelson’s most effective routes has been the over, working from the left side of the field to the right, so if the Cardinals choose to go deep, they could move the pocket in that direction (away from Wetzel’s side) and stretch the field that way.

“Everybody has a bad game”, head coach Bruce Arians said. It shouldn’t matter in this game.
