U.S. News & World Report released the rankings on Tuesday.
U.S. News and World Report also highlights schools with outstanding programs linked to student success.
Colleges listed in the Most Innovative category are identified by college presidents, provosts and admissions deans as having recently made “the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities”. “This ranking recognizes the important and exceptional work of our faculty, staff and students”, said Chancellor Mary K. Grant.
The U.S. News ranking system considers data from the National Center for Education Statistics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and other sources to score institutions in several key measures of quality. The school is ranked 71 among the 233 liberal arts colleges assessed and first among liberal arts colleges in the state of MI. Hillsdale College is proud to announce that it is ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s Best National Liberal Arts Colleges for the fifth consecutive year.
Centenary is the only liberal arts college in Louisiana to earn the Tier One distinction.
Criteria for the rankings include graduation and retention rates; undergraduate academic reputation among counselors and peers; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; graduation rate performance; and alumnae/i giving (the average percentage of living alumnae/i with bachelor’s degrees who gave during 2014-15 and 2015-16). Less than one-third of management and accountancy programs in the USA earn this recognition and only 5 percent of the 16,000 business programs worldwide are accredited by AACSB.
