Police in the South Brisbane, CBD and wider inner Brisbane areas had been warned to be on the lookout after the man fled the school on foot.
Emergency services were called to the performing arts complex at Somerville House in South Brisbane on Wednesday about 5.30am to reports of a stabbing.
The security guard was repeatedly stabbed in the lower and upper abdomen and the sides, the ambulance service said.
Another parent said she wouldn’t be leaving until she knew police had caught the attacker.
He’s been taken to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra hospital in a stable condition.
A security guard has reportedly been stabbed at an elite Queensland boarding school by an intruder.
Spokeswoman for Somerville House Sarah Dreever said the school would be operating normally today.
Somerville House was established in 1899 and is a day and boarding school for girls from Prep to Year 12.
It is largely an all-girls’ school, however the early learning centre and the pre-prep program became co-educational in 2014.
