Rahul Gandhi not to talk about AI in USA, confirms Sam Pitroda

Chikkamagaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party MLA C.T. Ravi on Friday said that if his colleague and Sringeri MLA Jeevraj is to be subjected to police probe for his remarks on Gauri Lankesh killing, then All India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi too should also undergo the same. Rahul follows in his great grandfather and India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s footsteps, who had delivered a speech at Berkeley in 1949.

“The objective of the visit is two-fold”.

But rights group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has called upon the university to withdraw the invitation to Rahul, citing the Congress party’s role in the anti-Sikh riots that erupted after the assassination of his grandmother and former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984.

He said Gandhi will meet overseas Indians at an event in NY as part of an outreach by the Congress party.

The Congress vice president is scheduled to visit Washington DC.

In Washington, Rahul will address a gathering of members of the Centre for American Progress, and of the think-tank community.

Gandhi may meet some members of the ruling Republican Party.

“He wants to understand more about what’s happening globally and what’s the global view of the situation is”, he said.

“We pushed as hard as we could to improve the public health care system”.

“You know he needs to be out, he needs to express his views”. You simply can not do away with public hospitals that are effective and efficient. “He will be also meeting with Indian Overseas Congress members and others”.

An invite to the media has a youthful Rahul, perfectly airbrushed in a white kurta with a tricolour scarf, promising “front row seats” to Indian journalists at the big-ticket event that, the party claims, will be attended by “thousands of NRIs from across the USA and from all over the world”. “Rise of populism is one topic I am sure will come up in the conversation”, Pitroda said.
