McDonald’s debuts new coffee drinks, launches bottled coffee

McDonald’s is making its mark on the bottled coffee industry with a launch of ready-to-drink McCafe products hitting retail stores early next year.

The fast-food giant said it signed a deal with Coca-Cola Co. that will bring three flavors of its McCafe Frappe drinks to stores.

McDonalds has been always more affordable than its competitors and the growing coffee culture might throw the chain back in the game.

McDonald’s bottled drinks will join the whole bean, ground and single-serve coffee now available nationally in retail stores.

In store, McDonald’s will also be upgrading its coffee drinks via high-end espresso machines and using “sustainably sourced” coffee beans. The types of coffee range from caramel, mocha and vanilla McCafé Frappes as well as caramel macchiato, French vanilla, caramel or hazelnut cappuccinos, and an iced or hot Americanos.

The expanded retail presence is part of McDonald’s broader McCafe platform relaunch, which includes a refreshed look, new logo and packaging and new espresso beverages in its restaurants. If you’re a planner and you’re already plotting out your New Year’s Resolutions, you can count on knowing you’ll have your McCafé Frappé ready to go to help you avoid sleeping in and accomplish your resolution to actually get to work on time.
