I started drinking heavily. He said “I admit there was a problem”. And so painful to me. None of them minded. Even the allegation that I ruined the show after I took over as the creative director following the midair incident, is a lie. Only a section of the media made me sound like this arrogant monster, who was using his health as an excuse to turn away celebrities, just to satisfy my ego. When Anil Kapoor came and Kapil was not well but he decided that he will stay on the set and just sit quietly, but when Anil saw his condition he refused to shoot the episode and told Kapil that he should take rest.
Kapil admitted to having been so affected that drinking became an obsession post the incident.
Like I told you, when I am misunderstood I clam up. But now I realise it was a mistake to not put forward the truth.
Following the Kapil- Sunil fight, several of his teammates including Chandan Prabhakar and Ali Asghar had quit the show.
Kapil has stated that his deteriorating health has been the reason for the cancellation of shoots. “Painted me as an arrogant brat”. All these stories regarding shoe-throwing and tantrums were started by a section of the digital media.
He was least bothered to market himself and that is why some of the sections of the media took it on themselves and they have written whatever they felt like. I was shocked to hear about the things being written about me. And those spreading such lies about me should look into their hearts to see how much they’ve damaged Kapil’s image and how prominently they’ve contributed to the show’s closure. Main Thoda phisal gaya tha. Abb sambhal gaya hoon (I slipped now I’ve regained composure). I’ve checked into an ayurveda clinic for complete detoxification.
Long before she (Preeti) joined me, I was doing Comedy Circus and Laughter Challenge. When Sunil left the show, I advised him to stay on, saying we are stronger together.
It is being said that Kapil would cancel shootings of The Kapil Sharma Show to give dates for the feature film Firangi which Rajiv is directing with Kapil in the lead.
He also believes that his show going off air doesn’t spell doom for his career.
What is your message to your fans? My show is far from over. When he came back, I welcomed him because I have always believed we must work with the best to learn more and work better. Please bear with me.
