Hurricane Irma Sucked The Ocean Away From Beaches In The Bahamas

Pan American Health Organization country offices in the Caribbean took preventive measures to provide the necessary support to authorities and a team of infrastructure, engineering, and administrative specialists was prepared to support the immediate assessment and response to the impact on people located in the path of hurricane Irma.

He tweeted a follow-up video that showed how the water had retreated at a beach in Long Island, Bahamas.

Irma is sucking water from shorelines and pulling it into the eye of the storm as it charts a path to the Florida coast. “You know they happen theoretically, but the chances of seeing the most extraordinary weather phenomena are slim to none”.

The storm passed through the southeast islands including Mayagua, Inagua, Crooked Island Acklins, Long Cay and Ragged Islands, on Thursday and Friday.

It also may be experiencing the effects of what I call the hurricane “bulge”.

The ominous-looking occurrence was in fact caused by a combination of low tide, low pressure and strong winds in the right direction, which literally pushed the water away from the long narrow bay. The storm can even change the shape of the ocean’s surface. As the storm draws water toward the center, it gets pulled away from the surroundings.
