At least two people were killed as a fire engulfed the Awami Markaz Software Technology Park, a building which houses the offices of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) as well as Federal Tax Ombudsman and others.

A huge fire that broke out in a six-storey building in the capital city on Sunday morning could not be brought under control after passage of several hours, ARY New reported. The record placed in the ombudsman’s office was also said to have been completely destroyed. They were admitted to a hospital with severe wounds where they succumbed to their injuries.
Rescue workers said they broke the building’s windowpanes to enter into the premises and safely evacuated 12 people.
According to rescue officials, the victims were staffers at a call centre located inside the building.
Seven fire tenders took part in the operation to douse the flames, according to the rescue officials.
Cooling efforts were underway after extinguishing the fire, the officials maintained.
Two vehicle parked in the parking area of the building were also damaged as a result of the fire.
Sources said the acting deputy commissioner of Islamabad has formed a three-member committee to probe the incident.
