Identified as Karan Thomas Joseph, the pianist hailed from Bengaluru.
Mumbai: A 29-year-old musician Karan Thomas Joseph allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the 12th floor of a building in Bandra west on Saturday morning.
Joseph had come to Mumbai last month to pursue a career in the music industry but was not doing very well as he expected to.
“Joseph has been suffering from depression for a long time”. He was staying with his friend Rishi Shah.On Saturday morning, while Shah and some other friends were watching television, Karan suddenly got up rushed to the window and jumped off. According to the police, Shah, his female friend and a few workers were in the house when the incident occurred. “Karan was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead”, a police official said.
“An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered with Bandra police station”. No suicide note has been found.
Often called a “child prodigy” for his excellent command over piano, which he started playing at the age of five, Joseph passed with top honours from the Bangalore School of Music, Royal School of Music and the Trinity College of Music.
The family of Karan back in Bengaluru has been informed. “Police is carrying out a preliminary inquiry in the matter and his mobile is being sent to the forensic lab”, DCP Karandikar told the media.
