Andrea Grinage, 31, was critically burned Friday when she was doused with gasoline on Friday in the bathtub of her apartment in Capitol Heights, outside Washington, Fox 5 DC reported. “PLEASE stop domestic violence!”
– A pregnant woman was critically burned after being set on fire by her boyfriend, police say.
Grinage’s father, Arthur Grinage, said his daughter and her newborn are doing okay.
“Well it all stems from him not wanting to take responsibility of him being a new born dad. And once a baby is conceived it’s too late for all that”, he said.
What happened? Grinage’s boyfriend allegedly dumped a flammable liquid on her and set her on fire. “You either step up and be a dad or you walk away”.
Police said Grinage is in critical condition and described the baby’s condition only as “alive”.
According to investigators, Grinage told neighbors her boyfriend attacked her and that he was going to D.C.to kill one of Grinage’s family members.
Doctors delivered the baby, Journey Aleah, seven weeks early. They managed to convince him to turn himself in.
‘She was very courageous.
When firefighters and officers arrived, they found smoke coming from the second and third floors of the three-story building, according to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS spokesperson Mark Brady.
“Within two-and-a-half hours of this disgusting scene here we had that suspect in custody”, she said, adding that charges are pending. We want her family to know how fearless she was, suffering as badly as she was – critically burned, anxious about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person, ‘ Donelan said.
