Six people were injured after a truck crashed into the Page Laundromat in Richmond Valley on Sunday morning, according to an FDNY spokesman.
Surveillance footage shows people folding laundry and waiting for loads of clean clothing before the auto crashes through the glass door into the laundromat around 8 a.m.
“He said, ‘I was in reverse and I hit the gas pedal.’ So he probably panicked”, she said.
Surveillance cameras caught it all, as the 74-year-old driver of this white SUV slowly backs out of a parking spot. She fell but she got up and ran inside, “And I saw one of my friends on the floor”.
Zoraida Michelle, another victim of the accident, was inside the laundromat with her father and daughter. She’s like, “I can’t feel my legs!”
Three of the injured have been hospitalized in serious condition, but are expected to survive, while three suffered minor injuries, officials say. All three got pinned between the SUV and the laundry equipment. Police are considering the crash to be an accident.
She said it was a miracle that all of them came out alive.
The store owner said he suffered damages that will cost him more than $20,000.
