Iran’s air defense base has sent two stern warnings to US spy aircraft in the last six months, which approached Iranian airspace, Iran’s Arabic language TV station al-Alam reported on Sunday.
During the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to serving on the front line of encountering threats as a valuable opportunity for the courageous, faithful, and honorable forces in the Air Defense Base, adding, “Great things have been done at the base which show strong determination, motivation, and abilities of the force”, the leader’s official website reported.
He also said the country’s air defense warned an American drone on August 26.
“Maybe the enemies think that they can attack on Iran, but have they thought how to escape alive after the attack”, said General Esmaili, during the opening ceremony of the bunker complex for counter-offensive drones on Sunday.
Iran has tested its new missile Bavar 373, which is comparable to the S-300 Russian, which will be delivered to the armed forces by march 2018, announced the commander of the air defence quoted by the website of State television.
He said Iran has tested its home-grown air defense system, created to match the Russian S-300. The Russian S-300 is now deployed in Iran, but the country is working on its own air defense system known as Bavar-373.
Russian Federation resumed the sale following the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers which lifted sanctions, and Iran’s S-300 defense system became operational in March.
Bavar means “belief” and it is the first long range missile defense system developed by Iran.
The key to removing the obstacles is the existence of “educated, prudent, courageous and tireless human resources” in the country, Imam Khamenei added, calling on the Air Defense to accelerate efforts and develop “new and innovative plans” to make Iran self-sufficient.
Israel has in recent years repeatedly hit convoys believed to be transferring advanced rockets and missiles, being transferred from Iran through Syria to Hezbollah.
