Man accused of setting Qld retiree on fire

The attack allegedly occurred while the elderly man was sleeping in his house, south of Brisbane.

They were extinguished by a neighbour, before emergency services arrived.

An elderly man is fighting for his life after being set on fire while sleeping in his Queensland home.

The man allegedly doused accelerant on Victor Graveson, 65, and set him alight at an Alexandra Hills home on Friday morning.

A 34-year-old Kooralbyn man has been charged with one count of attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Another man, 34, is assisting police with their investigations after taking himself to hospital also suffering from burns to his arms.

He said police were called to the property two months ago and police seized several items.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear.

A crime scene has been declared at the Teesdale Road residence.

Today’s attack comes a week after a man was burnt alive in very similar scenes on the Gold Coast.
