‘It’s Sad.’ Melania Trump’s Office Pushes Back After Footwear Controversy

It’s not every day that Trevor Noah echoes conservative writers and Trump supporters.

“I don’t know why anyone should care what anyone wears when they’re on their way to help people”, Noah said on “The Daily Show” Tuesday night after the heels sparked Twitter outrage. Some media members’ undies got bunched by the sight of Melania leaving the White House Tuesday morning, headed to Texas wearing heels. “Who cares? Look at the pope, you see how he dresses?” Look at that! All white with giant bling? “But we don’t say, ‘Hey, you can’t go out helping people dressed like that!'”

“How out of touch can you be?” one tweet read.

Though the Trumps were taking a plane to meet emergency crews and victims in Copus Christi, all anyone could talk about was how effectively FLOTUS was going to do that in her “Top Gun aviators” and four-inch heels.

Vogue contributor Lynn Yaeger asked, “(W) hat kind of message does a fly-in visit from a First Lady in sky-high stilettos send to those suffering the enormous hardship, the devastation of this natural disaster?”

“The media is more concerned with criticizing Lady Melania Trump’s appearance than the millions affected by this horrific disaster”, conservative provocateur Jack Posobiec tweeted.

The first lady’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said the remarks on her bosses’ footwear were a matter of people worrying about the wrong thing.

According to Fox News, the first lady’s Communications Director Stephanie Grisham told, it is sad that amidst the ongoing natural disaster in Texas, people are anxious about her shoes.

“I understand that”, Noah said.
