Chick-fil-A Manager Organizes Jet Ski Rescue for Harvey Victims

As Houston reels from catastrophic flooding following Hurricane Harvey, thousands have been displaced from their homes in the area after the storm devastated southeast Texas and the Gulf Coast.

The two men, Keith Christensen and Winston Savice, Jr., were reunited with Karen and J.C. on Wednesday who took the opportunity to thank them for rescuing them. “We are so grateful and so thankful”, JC Spencer told Good Morning America. And as if the story behind the photo wasn’t wild enough already, they say the couch seen near the front door floated in from another room. J.C. had simply joked with the restaurant worker, placing an order for “2 grilled chicken burritos” and “a boat”.

Fortuitously for the Spencers, who say they’re “regulars” at that location, the manager on the other end was the owner of a boat, and she sent her husband to retrieve them.

The couple said they were in the process of figuring out which of their most-prized possessions could fit onto the small rescue boat when the Jet Ski riders showed up and offered to take the couple to higher ground. Karen Spencer recalled thinking as she boarded the jet ski.

‘Karen jumped on the back of a jet ski and I jumped on the back of another one and they evacuated us to higher ground, ‘ J.C. said. When J.C. noticed he forgot his wedding ring and wallet, he had them quickly turn around.
