Ian Wright savages Arsenal & Arsene Wenger

The problems at Emirates Stadium appear to run deep, on the back of a fifth-place finish last season, and a legendary figure from their past is fearing the worst.

“Where do we start?”

It’s no secret that the Gunners are in crisis and as a number of players look for the exit door, Wright has called on Arsene Wenger to do the same.

“From the first minute to the last minute we were not at the level requested for such a game”, he said, quoted by the Guardian.

“When you go through that list of everything that is going wrong, and you’ve got to throw in recruitment – whoever’s doing the recruitment, someone’s got to have a massive, massive word – it’s an absolute shambles and I’m really gutted for everybody involved”.

While Arsenal’s attacking football is enjoyable to watch, former captain Vieira – now head coach of MLS side New York City – believes Wenger needs to implement more discipline.

With the transfer deadline looming at 10pm GMT today (6am tomorrow, Singapore time), the Arsenal manager finds himself mired in a mess as Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain headline a host of Arsenal stars trying to flee the troubled outfit.

Arsenal were widely criticised for their lacklustre display against Liverpool as they failed to gain any sort of foothold in the game.

We have the theory about Mesut Ozil being lazy and even though the stats show the German covers more ground than most his body language and languid style of play does make him easy to criticise.

A potential loan move until January to Everton is said to be in the offing – Costa would then return to Atletico Madrid once they are allowed to register new players in January.

The knives are out for Wenger, who only signed a two-year extension in the summer, after one of the club’s worst-ever performances under the Frenchman at Anfield.

“He is literally a hermit to the game”, Wright, who scored 185 goals for the club, added. He goes home and he’s probably on his phone.

Ian Wright is one of the best and most popular players to play for Arsenal. “You do feel it’s nearly like his blanket, his comfort blanket”, Wright said.

As far Arsenal’s defense is concerned, Wenger has got stars like Mustafi, Monreal, Mertesacker, Koscielny and Holding that he mainly uses in his three man back line.
