Chelsea agree £28M fee with Leicester City to sign Danny Drinkwater

Leicester City are preparing to fill the void which is looking certain to be left by Danny Drinkwater’s imminent move to Chelsea.

But Bakayoko, a summer arrival from Monaco, says the England international’s addition would be positive for both Antonio Conte’s team and even himself.

Antonio Conte has been desperately trying to further strengthen his midfield options after losing Nemanja Matic to Manchester United while Nathan Chalobah also joined Watford this summer.

The Premier League champions have reportedly agreed a £28m fee with Leicester City for the midfielder.

Drinkwater’s move will come as good news for Chelsea who look to have been snubbed by Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 23-year-old is now expected to undergo his medical and discuss personal terms ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday night. “I am not scared of anyone”, Bakayoko told French media SFR Sport.

The Foxes will also face a battle to hold onto key players Riad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, who are both believed to be the subject of much admiration from rival Premier League sides.

“I think that there are not enough of us in midfield, especially with all the competitions we will be playing in”.

Drinkwater knows what it takes to get his hands on that piece of silverware, having helped Leicester to their remarkable triumph in 2015-16.

“Competition only makes you better”.
