The beloved Chicago hip-hop artist will man the grills during the opening of the new Nando’s Peri-Peri chicken at Lake Street and Michigan Avenue next week. He’ll be combining his love of wings with his streak of helping out the youth in Chicago by raising money for SocialWorks, Chance’s nonprofit organization that is dedicated to financially boosting Chicago’s arts programs. Customers and fans who want to support SocialWorks can attend the Grand Opening or eat at the new Nando’s anytime from Tuesday September 5 to Thursday September 7.
“At a young age, Chance The Rapper has endeared himself to Chicago and the nation through his talent and passionate commitment to his community”, says Sepanta Bagherpour, Vice President of Marketing for Nando’s PERi-PERi USA. This is par for the course for the South African chain. Chance also made headlines back in March when he donated $1 million toward improving Chicago public schools, going as far as to meet with the IL governor about the dire conditions of the education system in the state.
As for when you may see Nando’s closer to you, as recently as a month ago, a company spokesperson told the Chicago Business Journal that the brand was exploring other markets but wouldn’t tip his hand as to where those new markets may be. Its grand opening will be Tuesday from 11 a.m.to 10 p.m.
