Two bodies have been recovered from inside a auto that had sunk in the water off the side of a road in Otay Lakes Tuesday evening.
Chula Vista police detectives assigned to a missing persons case were combing the area when the vehicle was spotted overturned in the reservoir off Otay Lakes Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
Chula Vista police had been tracking phone information to determine where the two could be.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the license plate number of the auto pulled from the water-a BMW-matched the number of Elsharkawy’s vehicle.
A San Diego Lifeguard dive team was called out to search the vehicle and found the two bodies inside. Crews were able to pull the vehicle out of the water just before 11 p.m.
It was not known for how long the blue BMW was underwater.
2 bodies found in auto pulled out of Otay Lake.
This is a developing news story.
“Chula Vista Police Department has an ongoing investigation right now for two missing persons“, a California Highway Patrol officer said. Milyn Elizabeth Chew and Aser Elsharkawy were reported missing Sunday. She apparently drove to her home in eastern Chula Vista – her family discovered her auto parked outside and her keys inside their home when they awoke – but she was nowhere to be found. Calls to her cellphone were sent to her voicemail, according to the flier. Check back for updates.
