September 1 declared as regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha

President Rodrigo Duterte made the announcement as he signed Proclamation 297 upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.

MalacaƱang declared Friday, September 1, a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha.

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced the public holidays in connection with Eid-ul-Adha that will befall on September 2 (Saturday).

The holiday declaration is contained in Proclamation 297 in accordance with Republic Act 9849.

Eid al-Abha is one of the two most important Islamic festivals, and is known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, as it recalls Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.

It was the National Commission for Muslim Filipinos that recommended September 1 as the day corresponding to the observance of Eid’l Adha.

To mark this, Muslims all over the world sacrifice an animal on that day.
