Finn Balor puts the finishing touches on Show to make him fall out of the ring. He said one word: “Respect”, and was immediately cut off by Kurt Angle’s music.
Angle said The Miz (who was already in the ring) was probably going to complain about not having competition and how the Intercontinental Championship is being devalued by not being defended. Tonight’s show starts off with an epic over-the-top battle royal to determine the #1 contender to The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship at the upcoming No Mercy pay-per-view.
Big Show vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Curtis Axel vs. Balor nearly knocks Bo Dallas unconscious then sets his sights on Jeff Hardy. The Miztourage were in the Battle Royale as well, as per Kurt Angle.
Curt Hawkins gets dumped out immediately by nearly everyone in the match. Miztourage’s Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas eliminate Kalisto and R-Truth. Jordan gets free and he nails multiple people with overhead belly to belly suplexes, Jordan then eliminates The Miztourage on his own. The duo almost eliminated Finn Balor with help from Elias, but the former Universal Champion escaped just on time.
We return from the break to see that Elias eliminated Crews during the commercial break, The Hardy’s work together to nail Gallows with a double suplex.
Apollo Crews is knocked out during the break. Luke Gallows was eliminated by Matt Hardy. Gallows interferes and takes Matt out of the match, The Miz interferes to help Dallas from getting eliminated. Gallows receives a measure of revenge when he pulls Hardy off the apron, eliminating him from the match. Dar traps Amore in the corner before attacking him with a few strikes, Amore gets angry and he attacks Dar with strikes in the corner. Goldust attacks Jordan with a plethora of stomps, The Miztourage would then turn their attention to Balor. Balor goes after Elias Samson and tries to knock him out, but “the drifter” is way too tough and hangs on to the match.
Finn Balor seemed to be on a roll when it came down to Jeff Hardy, Jason Jordan, The Miztourage, Elias and Balor, but then the lights went out and out of nowhere Bray Wyatt appeared and eliminated Balor before the lights went out again and he disappeared. However, Jeff Hardy took advantage and eliminated Kurt Angle’s son, becoming the #1 contender in the process.
