It wouldn’t be a modern auto show without a new electric concept or two.
In addition to a vehicle based on the Urban EV, Honda will also rollout another electric vehicle in 2018 that is tailored to the Chinese market.
The Urban EV’s debut will be part of a bigger announcement from Honda outlining its plan for the electrification of its European vehicle range.
Honda says the concept will be its first EV for Europe and will set the direction for a future production model. Both new EV’s have been partially developed by this new division.
Hachigo also revealed that Honda is investigating new high-speed charging systems that would be capable of adding 150 miles of range for every 15 minutes of charging, as well as wireless charging technology. The first is the CR-V Hybrid Prototype, which in Honda parlance means a CR-V Hybrid that’s very poorly disguised as a sort of preproduction concept.
Hachigo has previously said Honda plans for two-thirds of its sales to be of electrified vehicles by 2025, clearly Frankfurt will provide us all additional information on their path to achieving that goal.
