A 16-year-old Farmington Hills boy has been charged as an adult in the murder of his mother last week.
His attorney argued in 47th District Court in Farmington Hills that his client be released on bond, but the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office insisted he is a danger to society.
The teen will be back in court for a probable cause conference scheduled for September 15.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Farmington Hills Police Department at 248-871-2610.
Authorities received a 911 call on August 21 from a home northwest of Detroit. The victim, Nada Huranieh, 35, fell through an upstairs window at her house and landed on pavement below. She died at the scene, despite CPR and other life-saving measures.
The teen and his two younger sisters were in the home at the time of the incident. Detectives took the son into custody after discovering evidence that his mother’s death was not an accident. Police at the scene initially believed the death was an accident, but found evidence to indicate that that was not the case.
“We’re still investigating what’s obviously a very sensitive situation”, the police chief said.
Nebus said an autopsy was completed, but the results are still pending.
