Coast Guard finds fisherman on Lake Erie, 1 still missing

Coast Guard officials said they have located the body of a missing boater in New Haven.

Other local agencies are still on scene searching.

The Coast Guard brought the man on board and was able to tow the disabled vessel to Willoughby boat ramp. An hour or so after that, the Coast Guard suspended its search.

Members of San Diego Fire Department’s volunteer Task Force 8 have also deployed to the Gulf Coast, prepared to handle swift water rescues and hazardous materials. They then deployed two swimmers to swim up to the man.

Search efforts are being conducted by air and water.

A Coast Guard spokesman says the man who was rescued told crews that he lost sight of his friend sometime Tuesday morning. Sara Wallace, chief of response at Sector Maryland-NCR.

Smallwood State Park, MD-8/28/2017- Maryland Natural Resource Police (NRP) are reporting a boating accident occurred August 27, 2017, at night near Smallwood State Park.

However, the family called for help just after 9:30 p.m. after failing to hear from either one of the men.
