Bruce Springsteen joins Invictus Games’ closing ceremony lineup

Bruce Springsteen will join Bryan Adams, Kelly Clarkson, Bachman and Turner and Couer de Pirate for the September 30 closing ceremonies of the Invictus Games in Toronto, the singer announced on his website Monday (Aug. 28). He’ll join Bryan Adams, Kelly Clarkson and Coeur de Pirate in the wrap of the week-long games in which wounded, injured and sick veterans compete in a variety of sports.

The Invictus Games, which brings together wounded soliders and vets to compete in their own sort of Olympic Games, starts in Toronto on September 23.

“The calibre of talent performing at INVICTUS GAMES TORONTO 2017 demonstrates the unifying force of the cause and importance of honouring the resiliency and courage of our service men and women”, said Randy Lennox, President, Bell Media.

Last year, he was even rescued by veterans at the side of the road after his motorcycle broke down, the International Business Times reported.

“We are proud to partner with Bell Media to share the spirit of the INVICTUS GAMES with as many Canadians as possible”, said Michael Burns, CEO, Invictus Games Toronto 2017.

“Talk about closing the Games with a bang!” On September 23, Canadian sensations Alessia Cara, Sarah McLachlan and The Tenors will perform at the Games Opening Ceremony.

The Closing Ceremony marks the Games’ conclusion after seven days of inspirational competition. “Let’s support these admirable athletes and their families!” Tickets for the opening and closing events are available at InvictusGames2017.com.

Springsteen said in a statement it was “an absolute honour” to be able to perform at the ceremony. Across Ontario, we are gearing up to welcome guests from around the world for this event.

“This is a great opportunity for the City of Toronto and the country”.
