“Any donation that you can spare, no matter how large or small, no matter what city or state you live in, is greatly appreciated”. The Texans announced Sunday that they will practice Monday at the Cowboys’ facility in Frisco, Tex.
The Texans were set to host the Cowboys in the preseason finale this Thursday, but with Hurricane Harvey’s effects still be felt in the Houston area after making landfall over the weekend, the Texans didn’t return home following Saturday night’s Week 3 preseason game in New Orleans. Regular updates will be provided as we have more information.
The question now is how long will they stay in Dallas and whether Thursday’s preseason final between the Texans and Dallas Cowboys, scheduled for Reliant Stadium in Houston, will be moved to AT&T Stadium in Arlington?
Major League Baseball spokesman Michael Teevan said officials who handle scheduling are communicating with the teams and monitoring the situation.
Two people were reportedly killed in flooding in Houston, raising the death toll from Harvey to three, according to The Weather Channel.
As Tropical Storm Harvey continued to batter Houston and other parts of southeast Texas with record amounts of rain Sunday, and with the catastrophic flooding in the region expected to worsen in the coming days, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt shared a message of support.
Waukesha native and former Wisconsin Badger JJ Watt kick-started a donation effort to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Texas with a $100,000 donation Sunday.
“That’s our city. It’s very tough to watch our city get hit by such a bad storm and not be there to help with the recovery”, Watt said.
The storm also raised questions about whether the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff game between LSU and BYU can be played Saturday night at NRG Stadium.
“Mother Nature is undefeated”, O’Brien told reporters after the game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. “But if they called Wednesday at noon (I’m) sure could find way”.
