Palestinian girl dies after being struck by settler auto

Locals in the town of Bani Naim, located in east of the southern occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron), said that Israeli troops raided the town after midnight, ransacking several homes, before detaining 17-year-old Ahmad Nafiz al-Tarayra and Hani Abd al-Wahhab al-Khudour, Maan news agency reported.

Tareq Abu Oun, the girl’s father, told Al Jazeera that the driver attempted to flee the scene after hitting the girl but that he managed to stop the vehicle with the help of bystanders.

Meanwhile, Israeli police spokesperson Luba al-Samri said in a statement that two Palestinians were detained in al-Tur neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem (al-Quds).

He believed it was likely the Israeli settler had already been released.

Tareq Abu Oun, the girl’s father, witnessed his daughter being run over and, with the help of other men, managed to stop the auto from speeding away.

The victim’s short life was heavily affected by the Israeli occupation.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army said the Palestinian, who was taken prisoner in ‘Arraba, is a member of Hamas movement, and added that the soldiers also arrested another Palestinian in Be’er al-Basha village, south of Jenin. “Aseel was sitting on the floor, holding papers, and was full of hope for a better future for her and her family”. However, the girl was pronounced dead on arrival. The boys were all transferred to Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem.
