Maryam cancels London trip for NA-120 campaign

Pleading for contempt proceedings, the petition further asserted that Nawaz Sharif had constantly been criticizing the Supreme Court judges, which not only constituted contempt of the court but also violated the constitution.

Maryam said the workers should inform her about their problems in writing and she had no words to thank them.

Maryam expressed these views as she presided over a meeting held at the PML-N’S Model Town Secretariat to discuss the strategy regarding the NA-120 by-election. “Already the ECP has served a notice on Pervaiz Malik for running Kulsoom Bibi’s campaign in violation of its rules, but he is still active and was present in Maryam’s meetings”, the Dawn quoted PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry, as saying.

Nawaz Sharif is expected to fly to London to meet his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

According to sources, the former premier asked for speed up election campaign for NA-120 by-poll after Eid.

“We will move the ECP for this violation of the election code by the PML-N leadership”.

However, Punjab government’s spokesman Malik Ahmad Khan told Dawn that the building that housed the CM Secretariat in Model Town had two other portions – one used for PML-N activities and the other for public affairs units.

Differences had emerged in Nawaz Sharif’s extended family as the founder of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has refrained his nephew Hamza Shahbaz to participate in the campaigning process of NA-120 by-elections, from where his wife Kulsoom Nawaz will contest after his disqualification in the Panamagate case.

While briefing the media on Monday, ECP Assistant Secretary Fida Muhammad said candidates will be apprised on the use of the machines and their approval along with signatures will be taken on an affidavit.
