Kathy Griffin: Why Do I Have to ‘Grovel’ to Trump?

So the comedian went into seclusion, but after about three months in self-imposed exile (which was an act of self-preservation, given the death threats she was receiving), Griffin is ready to act as provocateur once more.

Griffin started promotion for the tour last night as her Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posted messages announcing that she had been “hacked” and to tune in at 10 AM PT Sunday “where she will be exposed”.

Griffin, 56, told Cooper that their “friendship was over” after Cooper refused to speak directly with Griffin after the incident, rather deciding to denounce Griffin over Twitter, according to The Cut.

Cooper in May tweeted, “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in”.

Kathy Griffin – who sparked public outrage and a Secret Service investigation with a photo of herself holding a bloody Donald Trump mask – says she’s clueless as to why people still expect her to apologize. “It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate”.

Cooper also mentioned that he and Griffin were still friends when making talk-show appearances, but Griffin said the two had not talked since the incident arose.

In the immediate hours following the release of the shoot, Griffin apologized for the shocking display. When I called Kopelson for comment, he said, “I’m tied up” as soon as I explained the reason for the call, and hung up the phone. “I beg for your forgiveness, I went too far, I made a mistake, and I was wrong”.

For damage control, Griffin held a June news conference where she broke down crying and claimed that Trump and his followers, as a result of their outcry against her photo shoot, “broke” her.

The comedian worked with Anderson on the New Year’s Eve special for CNN for many years and they have known each other even longer than that.

Griffin says she isn’t a victim: “I am in a position of privilege, I will be fine”, she says.

Griffin also finds the amount of energy spent on “going after” her by the White House absurd.

Arnold Kopelson, an Academy Award-winning producer who Griffin used to consider a friend, emailed Griffin with a prewritten letter to President Trump that he said she should mail to him, and which Griffin shared with me.

She later added, “I’m going to be honest: He broke me, he broke me, he broke me”.
